Merry Trashmas

Our friend Erin B in New Jersey sent this link about Jason Mack, an artist who made a twenty foot tall outdoor Christmas tree out of 1,000 pounds of melted and spun recycled glass.

Mack’s tree is an example of recycled ART; taking something ordinary that normally gets thrown away or recycled (in this case, glass bottles — in some cities, glass is no longer being collected for recycling —) and transforming it into something  extraordinary (maybe the Museum of Glass in Tacoma could host this artist next year), as opposed to this Heineken glass bottle X-mas tree, which looks more like an advertising gimmick.

Here in Olympia, David Sederberg is creating Windfall Christmas Trees by welding metal tubes together and then inserting downed evergreen branches that he has collected.  Read the article by John Dodge at the Daily 0 HERE

Happy Trashgiving to all, especially to Little Shiva and the rest of the brave polar bears in Copenhagen, love, etc Ruby
