Chihuly Shoes
(Guess whose feet are in those shoes?)
Today I worked as a guest artist at the Museum of Glass for Chihuly Week in Tacoma, where all sorts of Chihuly stuff is going on. My project was really exciting: Dale Chihuly personally painted the shoes of over 100 kids under the age of ten (free, no museum admission fee, it was out on the plaza) while the kids wore their shoes and the parents and others looked on and cheered.
Then people over the age of ten got to paint their own shoes ala Chihuly, which was quite fun; I even personally painted the shoes of a few fans.
This is me, in my Team Chihuly shirt (it says Tacoma on the back), showing off the old shoes that I painted. Golden donated a couple of boxes of acrylic paint in small squeeze bottles; some of the bottles were specifically labeled “Chihuly Custom Fluids.”
AND the Museum of Glass gave me my own pair of shoes that had been painted by Chihuly ahead of time, which I will wear only on special occasions …
your poor shoes. what a waste.
I love that picture of you! Say, you are pretty flexable aren’t you? Hummm
