swilling out
Since I don’t have any interesting news about my art life at the moment, here are some sites that you really should check out for inspiration: I Sell Garbage, Everyday Trash, and Art for Housewives.
I am spending my days doing some physical New Year cleaning, swilling out the one-car garage and laundry room in my house that I use to store most of my supplies…it is not a pretty sight. Belladonna, the 6 month old kitty that has joined 9 year old cat Bellamy and the rest of my family, had knocked over all the heaps and piles of junk that I had precariously strewn about. I actually took several boxes of plastic bottles to the recycling station by Top Foods, and bags of old clothes to the Goodwill; I felt overwhelmed by all of the accumalation of potentially useful stuff. Pangs of “what if that dropped waist dress comes back in style” and “I just might need all of those plastic bottles for a project some time” rippled through me, but now that I can navigate the floor without tripping, I feel relieved. And I still have plenty of plastic bottles to use for a project, as well as a closet full of clothes that I don’t wear.
I need to tidy up the downtown studio next, get it in shape for the fall Arts Walk, even though I will be in Salem,OR so Jenny and Randi will have to entertain our fans without me.
SO Happy 5767, hope this year is more creative with less waste!
