Arts Walk Street Art
My attraction to the Free Wall is that it is forever changing (or as Freeplay says, “it never rests”). Here is what it looked like on Sunday:
The east wall of Olympia Film Society / Capitol Theatre became a public participation mural that got a little wild when folks decided not to stay inside the lines…. I especially like the post bills dude. I noticed that today a lot of it has been painted over, especially around “A Different Sort of Utility,” (which is still intact). More salmon (by artist Sarah Clarke) will appear soon.
Meanwhile, out on the streets, I saw this and thought it was really corny, but what do you expect from a corndog with googly eyes? Enpen has posted a whole lot of pics of them, as well as pics of the OFS salmon mural, the Free Wall, and other cool stuff, check it out here. Maybe we should collaborate and start a blog dedicated to celebrating Oly street art. And then maybe it would be linked on Wooster Collective someday…
In the meantime, these guys are planning on painting the town, yeah! I watched them work on the Blue Moon Cafe wall (below) and then the wall next to Old School Pizza. They asked if I had a business that they could do, but I just rent a studio at the OFS/Capitol Theatre Building, home of the Free Wall.
Do you know how to get in touch with the guys who painted at Blue Moon? I have a wall for them.
