Big Foot Holiday Fun
Today the State Capitol Museum here in Olympia, WA presented a fun event: in conjunction with the on-going Sasquatch exhibit, they hosted Big Foot Holiday Fun, with a Christmas choir, reindeer, horse and carriage rides, Big Foot cookies to decorate (and eat), AND several make and take activities, including create your own Sasquatch ornament with Steve “Second-hand Sid” Suski, and mini Big Foot figures with Diane Kurzyna (aka Ruby Re-Usable). Lots of families patiently worked on this project, which took 30 – 45 minutes (a long time for this kind of event). This adorable girl and her dad were surprised at how good they got at using low-temperature glue guns (my favorite craft tool!).
Sid and Ruby hope to return to the museum sometime soon and offer this project again, so if you missed it this time, contact Susan Rohrer (srohrer@wshs.wa.gov) for more info about when it might happen again (sans the X-mas festivities). Sid and Ruby are also available to teach other recycled art projects; you can contact Ruby (diane (at) rubyreusable (dot) com) for more information.
