Decorative Recycling
floating woman made from recycled plastic water jugs by Ruby Re-Usable
Ruby Re-Usable recommend you read Regina Hackett at Art To Go, where she writes about artists and crafters involved in, as she calls it, decorative recycling (thanks for the shout out, RH!).
Then check out this story by Molly Gilmore in The Olympian about a local artist who reuses blown out tires, spent bullet casings, chewed up doll parts and other stuff to make art. Not only are we shocked that there are MORE ARTISTS who reuse road kill tires, but this one is working in Olympia and Ruby has not met Michael Lindenmeyer yet; she did try to go see his work on Saturday but the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts was closed up tight. We promise to post pics on our flickr when we do finally get to see his work.
great links, thanks!
Alec Clayton reviewed Michael Lindenmeyer’s show: Worn and Torn
Hey Ruby, I reposted this over at Olympia Standard.
