I am a painter and mixed media artist currently working on a series called “Save Puget Sound.” This series evolved as my love of the Sound and its beaches led me to diligently pick up trash either washed up or carelessly tosssed on the beach near my home. Eventually, I started keeping interesting finds and soon my walks became trash treasure hunts and my studio held piles of “stuff.” The pieces in this series comprise discarded manmade objects. Many of these objects pose a danger to beach users and especially to sea creatures. I want viewers to realize that as individuals we each have a personal responsibility to keep our beaches and waterways clean and safe.
