The remarkable German trash artist H.A. Schult designed the Corona Save the Beach Hotel, which is now in Madrid (but only until January 23). The walls are constructed from materials found in landfills, the beaches, and flea markets. The temporary hotel is part of a publicity campaign by the environmental group Save The Beach to draw attention to the problem of pollution on the beaches and in the oceans.
“I created the Beach Garbage Hotel because the oceans of our planet are the biggest garbage dump,” Schult told the Agence France Presse. Roughly 30-40% of the objects used for the hotel were found on the beaches of Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
