American artist Chakaia Booker creates wearable sculptures from discarded materials   Her current material of choice is rubber tires, which references her hometown of Newark and the industrial Northern New Jersey landscape.

Yong Ho Ji is a Korean artist who uses tires to make amazing beasts.  More pics of beasts made from tires

Clothing made from recycled tires? Heavy & painful, especially the steel belt, no? I do like Yong Ho Ji’s creatures. The texture of the tires emphasizes the structure of the beasts.

Chakaia Booker is a NYC artist, she had work in the 2000 Whitney Biennial but I have not heard much about her, I have never seen her work in person so I have NO idea how she deals with wearing the tires, I am hoping someone will do some digging and find out!

I’ve seen shoes made from recycled tires but nothing else before, interesting concept. The animal sculture is amazing, such texture…
