Happy Mother’s Day 2011
This yiddishe mamele is Portrait of the Artist as a Jewish Mother by Ruby Re-Usable, made out of reused materials, including a plastic dishwashing detergent bottle (Planet brand), a spray paint cap, plastic forks, straws, plastic bag for a babushka, mirror, and cardboard display letters that were being discarded. Behind her is an encaustic (artist unknown), it is a transliteration of the Yiddish saying, translated as “God could not be everywhere, so he created mothers”
