Good Review
I spent Wednesday and Thursday, 10/11 & 10/12, picking up art work from Marita (left) and Ross and then working with artistic volunteers (like Kim G-F, right, and Bill F) and Re-Store crew, installing the Recycled Art Show at the New York Fashion Academy and at the Re-Store.
We had worked hard, so it was nice when we saw the calendar listings: The Stranger gave us a star, the Seattle Weekly gave us a SW pick, and the P-I gave us a check.
Sometimes I feel like a school-girl, hoping for a good grade, when I check the visual arts listings…
Tacoma News Tribune even came by and reviewed the show; it was published on Sunday, 10/22, front page of Sound Life section. The print version had more photos than the on-line version, including pics of Ross Palmer Beecher’s “BUSH ’05” flag, Patti Shaw’s “Votivo” quilt, and me and “Bag Lady.” It is a great write-up; Rosemary Ponnekanti didn’t call it all “whimsical and clever” (how I HATE those adjectives right now) but critiqued the work with respect and insight. Afterall, it is serious art, albeit art with a sense of humor!
